反渗透即RO,主要有两部分组成，高压泵与反渗透膜，经处理使其带有强正电荷以吸附和过滤带负电荷的微生物及其他的有机物质。在高压情况下，除水分子以外，水中其他物质---矿物质、有机物、微生物等被拒于膜外，并被高压水流冲出，渗透到另一面的水即是安全、卫生、纯净的水。

反渗透可从水中除去90%以上的溶解性盐类和99%以上的胶体、微生物、微粒和有机物等，成为现代纯水、高纯水太空水（超净水）工程中首推的最佳设备。它最突出的特点是耗能低、无污染、工艺简单、出水水质高，而且易操作和维修。
